We are wondering if you can provide custom AutoCAD programming or if you can direct us to someone who does.
Our company is called AutoQuotes (www.aqnet.com) and we are basically an electronic catalog for commercial foodservice equipment. Our database currently contains pricing, weight, freight class, etc. for all kinds of restaurant equipment. AutoQuotes can produce Excel spreadsheets with this data for our customers.
We are in the process of adding utility data to our database and will be able to generate Equipment Schedules in an Excel format to be imported into AutoCAD drawings.
Our goal is to add a foodservice equipment symbol library to AutoQuotes. We envision a user opening our catalogue, selecting an item of equipment, (a refrigerator, for example), and by some programming means, inserting the symbol (a block) into an AutoCAD drawing.
AutoQuotes would enter the utility data for the item in its Excel spreadsheet which could then be imported into the drawing.
I have many years of AutoCAD experience, but would never presume to call myself a programmer. Using an AutoCAD script file, I’ve been able to get AutoQuotes to insert a symbol into AutoCAD. But then the script file stops upon user input, when I need it to continue with other commands. I’m not even sure what an appropriate programming language would be for this project.
A further challenge is that my boss would like this program to work both in AcadLT as well as full AutoCAD. I realize that LT does not accept programming even AutoLISP, but I’ve been able to get the same script files.
Please let me know if this project is something that you would be interested in, or if not, perhaps you could direct me to another source. Thank you for your time.
